NGN & Converegence Technologies 2 day training programme examines the concepts of Next Generation Networks (NGN) and presents the standardisation activities currently being proposed by industry bodies such as ITU and ETSI.

NGN architecture and operation is included as well as a detailed examination of NGN services, the architecture required for services and the operation of NGNs in respect of those services. Since IMS is a likely candidate for the service control layer for NGN services, an overview of IMS architecture and operation is also covered. Both the core network and access networks requirements/capabilities are studied in this programme including aspects of the transport layers and Quality of Service management. The final session covers regulatory issues that may have to be considered in building and operational Next Generation Network.
